Regent Theatre

Regent Theatre (formerly known as the Gaumont) is a theatre and concert venue located in St Helen's Street in Ipswich, Suffolk. The auditorium was recently refurbished and now holds 1,551 people.

Constructed in 1928-9 as the Regent cine-variety theatre. Two-storey neo-Georgian facade to St. Helen's. Brick with stone dressings, some painted. Rear elevations and former manager's house of brick, tiled roofs. Elaborate double-height auditorium with balcony, boxes and stage, reached via extensive foyer. Former manager's house to rear of two storeys.

The subterranian backstage area and lofty crawlspaces by the dome offer great opportunity to create spooky surroundings for a film. The rooftop is also accessible and reasonably secure.
